Spinach/Palak Pakoda–Easy & Quick Snack Recipe

           Pakodas are very easy tea time snack ever, weather you want to enjoy rainy evening or to entertain guest or just relax on lazy evening. These crunchy palak pakoras never disappoint you Blushing! My mom used to make these pakodas on rainy pleasant evening when we came from school. Always followed the same recipe and turn out good. Serve this with hot tea or coffee and you all set !! Coffee cupBlushing

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 10 minutes | Serves: 2

 

Ingredient

Palak/Spinach Leaves

Rice flour

1/4 cup

Besan or chic pea flour

1/2 cup +1 tsp

Red chili powder

1/4 tsp

Turmeric

2 pinch

Carom seeds

1/4 tsp

Cumin seeds

1/4 tsp

Cooking soda

A pinch

Salt

To taste

Oil

For frying

 

How to make?

  • Wash and pat dry spinach leaves and keep aside. Heat oil in kadai on medium flame.

  • In a mixing bowl take all the ingredients other than palak and mix well. At this point add 1 tsp of hot oil and stir gently.

  • Add water very little and make thick paste that should be enough to coat spinach leaves.

  • When oil is hot(To test drop little batter and see if it is rising immediately), drop 2/3 leaves carefully and fry till golden and crispy. Drain on paper towel.

  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

Notes :

  • Do not add more soda than a pinch, as pakoda drinks too much oil.

  • Always keep flame on medium. If pakodas are frying on high flame, pakodas brown quickly but inside remain uncooked. If you frying low flame, pakodas gets oily. So try to maintain temperature.

  • Adding hot oil makes pakodas crispy & crunchy.
