Parsley Garlic bread- Garlic Bread sticks Recipe

When we are getting bored of eating regular meal then we just order pizza & we don’t forget to order bread-sticks! Breadsticks are the best par while ordering pizza.  Whenever we went to Italian restaurant,  my daughters first choice would be ‘’Garlic bread with dipping sauce’’Pizza.  We love those Soft Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks. Then I thought to make it at home.  This Parsley Garlic bread is made with fresh parsley.  Just a handful of parsley you need. Homemade Garlic bread is real treat. Crispy and garlic infusing every last bite !! This recipe is adapted from Divya’s blog with slight variations.:) :)

I made Parsley Garlic Bread recipe for “Shhhhh Cooking Secretly Challenge”conducted by Priya. This is my first entry to this challenge and I am paired with Sandhya Ramakrishnan. My secret ingredient is Parsley and Bulgur wheat. I thought I will make khichdi or tikki but unable to deal with buckle wheat so I  used parsley and made this Garlic bread.  Enjoy this delicious, cheesy garlic bread !!

Resting Time : 2 hours
Cook Time : 10-12 min.
Makes : 10-12

Ingredients:

All Purpose flour - 1 & 1/2 cup
Instant dry yeast - 1/2 tsp
Parsley ( chopped) - 2 tsp
Olive oil - 2 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Garlic paste - 1 tsp
Mozzarella cheese - 3 tsp
Parmesan cheese - 1 tsp
Water - 1/2 cup +2 tsp
Salt - To taste

Method :
  • In a bowl, whisk together water, sugar and dry yeast and give it good mix. Let it aside for 10 minutes till yeast bubble up.
  • In mixing bowl, take 1 cup of flour, 1 tsp olive oil, and bubble yeast. Mix well and make a sticky dough. Cover it and keep aside till its double in volume about 1 hour.
  • Now add rest 1/2 cup flour, salt to taste and 1/2 tsp garlic paste ( I peeled 3-4 garlic and ground it ). kneed the dough and let it rest for another 1 hour or till double in size.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F (204 C). Brush 1 tsp of olive oil or melted butter on to a cookie sheet. Dust your kitchen top with little flour and roll out the dough into circle shape.
  • Apply shredded mozzerella cheese and 1/2 tsp on top and fold the dough into semi circle shape.Carefully transfer it onto cookie sheet. Brush a tsp of oil on top. Sprinkled parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Cut this into stripes using pizza cutter. Bake this for 10-12 minutes or till the breads golden brown. Do not over bake. ( mine took 11 min to bake)
  • Enjoy this hot garlic bread with sauce. It tastes awesum !!
  • Notes :
    • You can use onion powder or garlic powder instead od garlic paste.
    • Replace mozzarella cheese with ricotta cheese or amul butter.
    • Use chilly flake or oregano instead of parsley.

    35. Hi Sony

      1) Why are you saving the 1/2 cup flour for later addition
      2) can i switch whole wheat flour for All purpose flour ?

      Thanks

      - Rupa

      1. Hi Rupa,

        1. To get the proper yeast processing, it is recommended to add salt afterwords because salt slows the yeast's fermentation or reproductive activities. To mix salt properly in the dough we will add flour along with it.
        2. Didn't try with whole wheat flour.

    38. Hi Sony awesome clicks I must say! I will definitely try the recipe soon. However, I did not understand if we combine both the flour knead( one with garlic paste and other without) ? Kindly help.

      ReplyDelete
      Replies
      1. In first knead we have added yeast and set aside for fermentation, while yeast processing we should not add salt and garlic paste. So we added garlic paste in second knead. Hope it helps !
