Carrot Halwa Recipe–Gajar ka Halwa–Indian Sweets

        Carrot Halwa is very popular Indian sweet is made on several sweet occasion or festivals. It will makes your sweet occasion more sweeterParty smile I remember, in childhood  whenever the vegetable market flooded with the carrots, my mom use to make carrot halwa and it finished in no time. She makes the best halwa. It is very simple and easy to make except grating part. Always choose juicy and tender carrots, they easily grate.

         Carrot halwa can be made with various variations like adding khoya, condensed milk, skimmed milk etc. Today I am showing my mom’s simple yet classic recipeOpen-mouthed smile

 

                                 

 

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook time: 20 minutes | Serves: 2

 

Ingredient

Carrot

2 cup

Whole milk

1& 1/3 cup

Sugar

1/2 cup

Dry fruits

3 tsp

Cardamom Powder

1/4 tsp

Ghee

3 tbsp

 

How to make?

  • Wash, peel and then grate the carrot. Heat large pan/Kadai and add grated carrot with a tsp of ghee. Cook about 3-4 minutes till carrots will turn pale in color.

  • Pour milk and cook carrot on medium flame. Keep stirring between.

  • Cook carrots till the milk start to reduce and evaporate. It will take 10-12 minutes.

  • When the mixture is dry and all the milk evaporates, then add sugar and cardamom powder and mix well. cook for another 4-5 minutes till the halwa leave the side of pan.Add dry fruits and switch off gas.

  • Serve hot Gajar Halwa with scoop of your favorite ice-cream!!

Notes :

  • You can store Gajar Halwa  in fridge for almost a week.

  • You can add condensed milk with reducing sugar quantity.

  • I grated carrot with hand held grater. for easy way ,you can use food processor also.

  • Do not reduce the ghee.

  • Adding khoya/ khava gives a different taste to halwa!
