Kande Pohe–Quick Breakfast Recipe

                 Kanda pohe is popular, tasty Maharashtra recipe. Kanda pohe is easy and quick breakfast using green peas, carrots, cashews etc. Its absolutely favorite in our family. I have grown up by eating this authentic poha as a breakfast and I love it when it is made by my mom. So today I’m sharing my mom’s recipe, I am sure you will love it.Open-mouthed smile

                  It is also known as chai tea-pohe. I remember this Winking smile ‘’chai-pohe’’ritual has been essential part of the ‘’ bride viewing’’  programs In an arranged marriage where the grooms family visits or meet to a prospective girls family. As traditionally known as “tea and pohe”. A popular food item served. This is perfect start of sweet, savory, long lasting happy Maharashtrian marriages.  

 

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook time: 10 minutes | Serves: 3 to 4

 

Ingredient :

Flattened rice (poha)

2 cup

Potato (Boiled)

1

Peas

3 tsp

Tomato

1

Onion

1

Turmeric

1/2 tsp

Lemon juice

2 tsp

Salt

As per taste

Sugar

A pinch

 

To Temper

Oil

4 tsp

Peanuts

1/4 cup

Mustered seeds

1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds

1 tsp

Asafetida

A pinch

Curry leaves

1 string

Green chill

2 to 3

 
How to make ?
  • Wash flattened rice (poha) under running water 2 times, Drain all the water and keep it aside for 10 min.

  • Finely chop onion, tomato, potato and green chili.

  • Heat oil in kadai on medium flame, add items under ‘To temper’ fry till peanuts becomes golden brown. Add onion and cook till onion becomes translucent. Add potatoes, peas and tomato and cook for few seconds.

  • Add turmeric and little salt.

  • Drizzle 2 tsp water on soaked poha and mix into pan. Add required salt and sugar and stir evenly. Cover and cook for 5 min. Finally add lemon juice and sauté very well.

  • Garnish with shredded coconut or cilantro

Notes:

  • You can use cashew or raisins also.

  • Use only thick poha, do not use thin as it becomes sticky.

  • Sprinkle some water into poha to makes soft, this is useful for kids.

  • Pick veggie according to your preference.

  • I have not garnished my dish as I am in jiffy.
