Almond Milk / Badam Milk / Badam Kheer

                   Badam milk is flavorful and refreshing drink, blended with all nuts. The wonderful flavor of saffron enhance the taste. Almond milk is easy to make but it takes time for soaking nuts. This can be served hot or cold and anytime of the day. This is very healthy and nutritious drink. Almond milk is to increase memory and concentration. You can have few almonds daily, it helps to fulfill protein needs, develop memory and helps in weight loss. Almond milk is indeed flavorful drink for children.

 

 

Soaking Time: 1 hour | Cook time: 30 minutes | Serves: 2

 

Ingredient

Almonds / Badam

15

Milk

2 cup

Saffron strands

8

Cardamom powder

1/2 tsp

Sugar

3 tsp

Rose water (optional)

2 drops

 

How to make ?

  • Wash and soak almonds in water for 1 hour. Then gently peel off the almonds skin. Add almonds and 2 tsp hot milk. Blend on high speed for at least a minute.

  • Dissolve saffron strands in little amount of hot milk. Heat milk on medium flame. Once it starts boiling add sugar and stir well for 5 min.

  • Add Saffron and almond mixture. Simmer the milk on low flame for 4-5 min.

  • Add cardamom powder and rose water, stir gently. Switch off the gas. Let the milk cool down.

  • Serve chilled, garnish with chop almond and a pinch saffron.

Notes :

  • Rose water is optional, if you want to give different flavor then you can add otherwise can be avoided.

  • I used whole milk for rich and creamier milk/kheer.you can use low fat milk.

  • Also you can add soak cashew or pista while blending almonds.
