Aloo Mutter curry / Potato peas curry

          Aloo mutter is a great lunch or dinner dish and very commonly serve in north India. Aloo mutter is simple Punjabi dish made with potato and sweet peas. In our childhood my mom was making this aloo mutter with hot jowar Bhakri .This is very simple and quick recipe when you are in jiffy. Most people loves all dishes made with potatoes. I can say Potato lovers !! Open-mouthed smile I made this few days before and enjoyed with roti and steamed rice.My daughter is love to eat aloo mutter with hot rice and ghee !

 

Prep Time: 10 minutes    | Cook time: 20 minutes    Serves: 4

 

Ingredient

Quantity

Potato

2

Green peas ( I used frozen)

1 cup

Onion

1

Tomato

2

Red chili Powder

1/2 tsp

Garam Masala

1/2 tsp

Coriander Powder

1/2 tsp

Salt

as per taste

water

1 and 1/2 cup

 
 

To Temper

 

Oil

2 tsp

Cumin seeds

1/2 tsp

Muster seeds

1/2 tsp

Ginger/garlic

1/2 tsp

curry leaves

1 spring

 
How to make?
 
  • Chop onion and tomatoes finely. Peel the potatoes and chop into small cubes.

  • Heat pressure cooker on medium flame.Add items under ‘’ to temper’’.Add onion, ginger, garlic mix well and sauté for 2/3 min.

  • Add chopped tomatoes with little salt and cook till they mashed.

  • Add red chilli powder,garam masala,coriander powder.

  • Stir for a min, add potato cubes and green peas.

  • Add 1 and 1/2 cup water with required salt. Cover the pressure cooker,cook for 3 whistles.

  • Garnish with cilantro and Serve hot with roti or rice!

Notes :

  • Adjust spice level according to your taste.
  • You can use fresh peas also.
  • You can add tomato puree instead of chopped tomatoes.
